Riley Karns makes 1 run hold up for the Madison Memorial Spartans Varsity in 1-0 win over Verona




The Madison Memorial Spartans Varsity didn't provide Riley Karns with much support, but he didn't need much. Karns pitched 6 1/3 strong innings to carry the Madison Memorial Spartans Varsity to a 1-0 win over Verona in eight innings on Thursday at Stampfl Field.
Paul Koebke-Barsic helped the Madison Memorial Spartans Varsity take the lead for good in the eighth inning. After Ryan Murphy tripled, Koebke-Barsic came to the plate with the game scoreless in the eighth inning and gave himself up with a sacrifice bunt, bringing home Ryan Murphy.

Jason McFeely went 3-3 at the plate, sparking the Madison Memorial Spartans Varsity to a 5-1 victory in seven innings over Waunakee on Tuesday at Mansfield Stadium. He singled in the second, fourth, and fifth innings.
Travis Lindquist was a workhorse on the hill for the Madison Memorial Spartans Varsity. Lindquist pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks while striking out two.
The Madison Memorial Spartans Varsity converted a triple play in the first inning. Waunakee scored its only run of the game on an RBI single by Ripp in the first inning. The Madison Memorial Spartans Varsity never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring four runs on a two-run single by McFeely.

The Madison Memorial Spartans Varsity fell 6-0 to La Crosse Central at Copeland Park on Thursday. Erik Goucher shut down La Crosse Central while he was on the bump. Goucher held La Crosse Central hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three. The lead stayed with La Crosse Central after the fourth, when it scored five runs on a two-run double by Deeth and a fielder's choice.
