The Taper's Section

I am introducing a new topic and that is entertainment, more specifically music. Music has always been a huge integral part of my life and can say it has been there in some of the best and some of the worst days! I know most people have a connection, but I have always thought music in itself has helped keep some type of sanity in the world we have today!

So, without further a due, I start this week with the Classic American Band, The Grateful Dead. They carry a special place in my house and I just wanted to share some classic Grateful Dead via their web site, called The Taper's Section. I am proud to introduce my new topic and hope you enjoy the gift of music!

Baby porpoise rescued 1 mile inland after Japanese tsunami

Here is a good luck story from the NE area hit by the earth quake and tsunami.

People in a village spotted the baby porpoise and a man finally was able to grab it and be carried back out to sea! That shows you the power of the tsunami and that even seas animals were affected by it!

Update on radiation readings and death toll in NE Japan

From the story and video below the operators have apologized for a mis-read that lead to reporting the radiation levels 10 million times normal. After watching the second link below, the radiation levels are still extremely high and a very dangerous situation. The Tokyo Electric Power Company said there is still a lot of danger, but had to apologize for the extreme reading. The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant was damaged in the 11 March quake and tsunami.

Update: The death toll from the quake and tsunami has now passed 10,000 and more than 17,000 people are missing. The death toll will most likely continue to rise. They believe there will never be an accurate number of dead since, they believe, a lot of people were drowned and swept to sea.

Radiation Leak at Fukushima Nuclear plant

Just when it seemed it was getting better at the Fukushima Nuclear plant, it looks as if 2 workers were exposed to radiation and were sent to the hospital. The Japanese government has put the rebuilding cost at $309bn!! This is an unprecedented amount of money and shows just how much damage has been done to the North Eastern Island of Japan!!

Updates on Japan

It looks like Japan is getting close to having a better handle on the Fukushima nuclear plant. This is very good news, but there has been radioactive fallout from this disaster. The Japanese government is now figuring out what type of food ban to put in place around the area.

Also, they are really coming to the reality of the scope of the death tolls which are rising significantly. This will be a disaster which will not have perfect death tolls since a lot of people were dragged out to sea, etc.
